EXPLORE NEW 2022 MOTABILITY CARS
There are plenty of different types of cars available on Motability so everyone can find the perfect vehicle. If you need an adaptation, get in touch with us and we can guide you through which models are suitable for which adaptations.
Bear in mind that cars with two to three doors offer wider entry openings but can be more difficult to open in tight spots whilst four to five-door cars give easy access to the rear passenger space.
When choosing your Motability car, we’ll work with you to decide if it’s the perfect model for any necessary adaptations or accessibility needs.
If you need something to get you around the city, a small car is a perfect choice. Compact cars and superminis are perfect for Motability users who don’t need any major adaptations as they’re smaller and easy to drive. Their designs are typically more playful than other models too!
Smaller Motability cars tend to be more affordable, either costing less than your weekly allowance or coming with low or no Advance Payment.
They typically get a great fuel economy too as they’re lighter with smaller engines but still able to handle daily life with ease.
Their compact size makes them perfect for agile city driving. Packed city streets don’t feel claustrophobic, instead more like open country roads, and even the smallest parking spots are an option.
Small and city car boot spaces generally range from 150 to 350-litres, with some smaller models coming with four seats instead of five.
Medium-sized cars and hatchbacks add a touch more practicality whilst staying on the smaller side. They’re perfect for people who need some more storage and a bit more passenger space inside.
There are plenty of striking styles to choose from, from more subtle designs to those with added dashes of sporty flair.
These models are also ideal for those who don’t need any major stowage adaptations, but they can still handle smaller changes.
Hatchbacks and medium-sized cars on Motability come with a range of engines. Choose from smaller, more economical engines to units packed with extra power. There’s something suited to every type of driver.
Hatchbacks come with a mix of both four and five seats, with the four-seat options giving all passengers more space on the inside.
Larger models can have up to 500-litres of boot space, more than enough room for a few medium-sized suitcases or the weekly shop.
Family cars and saloons offer extra space in every aspect. Passengers can kick back and relax in pure comfort thanks to longer, more spacious designs. Choose a practical Motability car perfect for everyday use or go for something with added style and power.
Typically coming with five seats, all passengers can fit without feeling too cramped. Leg and headroom is ample, offering all inside extra comfort on longer journeys.
Boot space reaches up to around 550-litres, offering plenty of space for your items. These larger models are suited for many adaptations, so if you’re curious about a saloon or family car on Motability, get in touch and we’ll advise you.
4x4s and estates offer a lot of added practicality in terms of boot and passenger space. 4x4s are capable of handling off-road terrain with a higher ground clearance whilst estates are usually based on saloon and hatchback models.
SUVs and 4x4s come in various sizes, from smaller models to much larger cars. SUVs are ideal for those who need stowage adaptations in the boot space as there’s much more room to play with.
Estates add some extra functionality to a standard or saloon model with more room in the boot. These are also perfect for those who need boot stowage adaptations as the rear seats fold away to open up an abundance of space.
If you’re considering an estate for your Motability car and you’ve never driven one, it’s important to book a test drive around your local area.
Estate boots typically reach up to 610-litres with the rear seats up, with large SUVs offering up to 800-litres. There aren’t many daily items, small pieces of furniture and white goods you won’t be able to fit.
The larger the car, the more space you’ll have, even with a major adaption fitted in the boot.
Coupes, roadsters and cabriolets swap functionality and space for pure sporty fun. These models are ideal for Motability users who don’t need any major adaptations and love an exhilarating drive. These Motability cars typically come with a higher Advance Payment, something we’ll talk you through when browsing your options.
Coupes are two-door cars with a sporty edge. Often there are five-door saloon versions of coupes, but these models are designed to look and feel athletic. Even with their sporty design, they still offer a level of functionality with ample boot space and enough room for passengers.
Roadsters are made with performance in mind. They’re often two-seaters with no space for other passengers and a compact boot. Athleticism is the focal point of these models, best suited to Motability users who don’t need adaptations.
Cabriolets are designed for those who simply love to drive. Also known as convertibles, they have either hard or soft-tops which fold down into the boot so you can experience driving in the open-air. Boot space is compromised when the top is down, but some still offer ample space.
Another type of vehicle that's growing in popularity in recent years: electric cars. You'll find a strong range of electric Motability cars.
They may have a slightly higher Advance Payment but you save money in the long run, thanks to electric power being considerably cheaper than petrol or diesel.
Motability customers can find plenty of brand new models when it comes to fully electric cars, and there are also hybrid versions of cars available too. The choice is yours: get a fully electric motor, or go for a hybrid for the best of both.
You can also get Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (or WAVs) on the Motability scheme. These are much larger vehicles that are made specifically to help wheelchair users.
There's plenty of choices here, with Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles being easy to get in and out of, as well as having ample space for wheelchair storage. These are more specialist cars on Motability, and may not be suitable for all.
If you're unsure whether you should go for a WAV or a larger new Motability car with an adaptation, please get in touch and we'll explain your options and main considerations.
Whether it’s your first time leasing a car on the scheme or you’re looking for your next model, we’re here to help you along every step of the Motability Scheme.
