How Does the Ford Motability Scheme work?

What Ford cars are available on the Motability Scheme?

There are many Ford Motability cars available. All you need to do is select the model that’s ideal for you and get in touch with your local Pentagon Motability Specialist, who will guide you through the whole process.

Who is eligible for the Ford Motability Scheme?

To be eligible to join the scheme, you or the person you care for must receive one of the following Motability allowances and have at least 12 months award length remaining.

Who is the Registered Keeper of a Ford Motability Car?

The registered keeper is whoever applies for the car. This can be:

• The person who claims Mobility allowance
• The carer of someone who claims Mobility allowance

Who Can Drive a Ford Motability Car?

Yourself, carers, family and friends can be nomiated to drive.

Only those listed as permitted drivers can drive the car for the benefit of the Motability claimant. You can drive the car without the Motability claimant inside the vehicle, as long as it benefits them in some way. You could go shopping or run errands for example.

How Many Named Drivers Can You Have on Motability?

You can have up to three named drivers (you have to pay £75 to add a third driver) on your Ford Motability car as long as they pass the RSA Motability’s (RSAM) eligibility criteria.

Ford Motability Adaptations

At Pentagon Ford, we believe that every customer should have their unique needs met, which is why we offer a range of adaptations to suit you. Adaptations can be made to help make travelling easier and more comfortable for Motability users, and can often be arranged free of charge when you order your new Ford car.

The adaptations tend to fall within three categories:

Not every Ford car is suitable for adaptations, so before making a final decision on which car to have, we recommend discussing whether you would require any adaptations with a Pentagon Ford Motability specialist. If you require any adaptations, they will be able to advise you on the suitability of each vehicle and help find the car that meets your individual requirements.

Ford Motability servicing with Pentagon Ford

Although servicing checks are dependent on the model and age of your Ford, you can expect the following checks and/or top-ups to be carried out during a service at Pentagon:

• Tyre pressure (including the spare tyre)
• Tyre tread
• Lights
• Engine cooling system
• Engine oil
• Windscreen washer fluid

As an approved Ford dealer, our fully-trained technicians only use manufacturer-approved parts, so you can be safe in the knowledge that your vehicle will be returned to you in perfect condition.

Keeping you on the move

We understand how important it is for you to stay mobile, so we will always try and provide a courtesy car where possible. We also offer a collection and return service where we will collect your vehicle from your home or workplace and return it once the work has been completed.

If you require a courtesy car with adaptions, you will need to speak to Motability about getting the right courtesy car before your appointment.

The Motability Good Condition Bonus

If you adhere to the service schedules set out by the car manufacturer and make sure your car is well looked after, you may receive a Good Condition Bonus at the end of your three-year lease.

When you return your car to us, we will take photos and a brief description of its condition to help Motability decide if you are eligible for the bonus. If your car meets Motability’s requirements, you will automatically receive a cheque within 28 days of the car being returned.

Maintaining a record

When taking your car to one of our dealerships, please ensure you bring along your service book if you have one, so we can complete and stamp it for your records. You may need to provide this as evidence to prove the car has been regularly serviced.

How Long Does it Take to Get a Ford Motability Car?

As you're ordering a new car, the time varies from model to model. Give us a call or visit your local Pentagon Ford dealership to find out before applying.

After completing the application process, you'll be given a timeframe of Motability vehicle delivery. This can range from a couple of weeks to one or two months, depending on the model availability, spec level, lead times and adaptions needed.

When Can I Order My New Ford Motability Car?

You can put an order in three months before your lease is up, but it's recommended to do it earlier if possible.

If your chosen car can't be supplied before your lease runs out, we can apply a short term extension to your current Motability lease.

How Much Is the Motability Allowance?

As of 11.04.2018, the Higher Rate Mobility allowance is £59.75 per week.

You can also use the Mobility enhanced rate of Personal Independence 

Payment (PIP). This is currently £61.20 per week.

When Do the Ford Motability Prices Change?

Ford Motability price lists change every three months. This means that you're always getting a great deal on a Ford car.

The prices are published on the following days every year:

• 1st January
• 1st April
• 1st July
• 1st October

Prices are locked in, so you won't pay more for your current car if the price increases during your agreement.

How Much Does It Cost to Add a Third Driver on Ford Motability

The first two named drivers are free. To add a third, it costs £75. The customer, or their driver, must get in touch with RSA Motability to request a third driver. Their details are then checked and they will need to speak to the proposed driver.

What Is the Mileage Allowance on a Ford Motability Car

Three-year agreement: 60,000 miles.

Five-year agreement: 100,000 miles.

Additional miles are charged at 5p per mile.
