The Motability scheme is designed to help disabled people become more mobile by exchanging their weekly allowance for either a car, scooter or powered wheelchair. To qualify for the Motability scheme and drive a brand new vehicle from Pentagon you have to receive one of the four payments listed below.
1. Higher Rate Motability Component of Disability Living Allowance (HMRC DLA)
This payment is currently provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) but is being replaced with a new benefit payment called Personal Independence Payment (PIP). To lease a car through the Motability scheme at Pentagon you must have at least 12 months award of this payment remaining.
2. Enhanced Rate of the Motability Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
Replacing the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a new benefit called Personal Independence Allowance (PIP) which is paid to disabled people aged between 16 and 64. To qualify for the Motability scheme you must be in receipt of the enhanced component of this benefit and have at least 12 months entitlement remaining.
3. War Pensioners’ Motability Supplement (WPMS)
This payment is provided by Veterans UK to help keep war veterans mobile.
4. Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
The Welfare Reform Act 2012 introduced this payment to help support service personnel and veterans. To qualify for this payment you must be entitled to a Guaranteed Income Payment (GIP) of 50% or higher through the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS).
