We’ve compiled a list of commonly asked questions about the Motability Scheme and PIP to answer any queries. For a more general overview of how it all works, explore our comprehensive Motability Guide.
A: If you receive an eligible mobility allowance, you can swap it for a lease on a brand new SEAT car. With help from our friendly advisors, you select the model you want and the lease payments are taken from your mobility allowance every four weeks. If a model costs less than your allowance, you keep the difference. If a model costs more, you may have to pay a one-off Advance Payment. You’re able to nominate two drivers or you can claim a SEAT Motability car on behalf of someone under the age of 17. Motability gives people a way to retain the freedom of mobility.
A: You get:
A: With a three-year lease, you get a total allowance of 60,000 miles or 100,000 miles for a five-year agreement. Anything over your allowance costs 5p per mile. Drive under 15,000 miles and you can extend your lease for one or two years, with an additional allowance of 20,000 miles.
A: Find the full list of the SEAT Motability cars available. Models change every three months. The prices vary model to model. With cheaper leases you might get part of your mobility allowance back. More expensive models require an advance payment.
A: You can’t buy your SEAT Motability car at the end of your lease, but you do have three options. You can:
A: You can get up to £600 back if you keep your SEAT Motability car in good condition after a three-year lease. Maintain the paintwork, keep the interior clean, make sure the tyres are inflated and not low on tread etc. and you’ll get a cheque in the post.
A: You can only use a Motability care if you’re a nominated driver and it’s for the benefit of the claimant. E.g. going to the shops, picking up medication or carrying out any other daily tasks for them.
A: The lead time varies for each model. Once we’ve worked with you to finalise your application, we’ll let you know how many weeks until your new SEAT car is delivered. If you already have a car on Motability, you won’t receive your new one until the end of your current agreement.
A: You can change models early (only if you have a valid reason) by cancelling your current lease and applying for a new one. You’ll incur a £250 admin fee and waive your good condition bonus. Keep in mind that cancelling your agreement more than three times in seven years may affect your eligibility to the scheme.
