With the announcement that LDV will rebrand as MAXUS across right-hand drive Europe beginning in April, 2020 is already shaping up to be a watershed moment for the company.
The redesign corresponds with the introduction of two new models that will help the company transform: the all-new Deliver 9 and the E Deliver 31, the brand's newest electric vehicle.
LDV was purchased by SAIC, China's largest automaker, in 2009, and was renamed MAXUS for the domestic market as well as a few left-hand drive markets in Europe, including Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
The Harris Group, a prominent Dublin-based distributor, won the brand's distribution rights for the UK, Ireland, and right-hand drive Europe in 2015. Harris has a long history in commercial vehicles, having introduced the flagship V80 and its electric counterpart, the EV80, under the LDV brand, which has a large following in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
"2020 is going to be the brand's biggest year ever," said Mark Barrett, general manager of MAXUS UK and Ireland. "With the impending launch of our game-changing diesel panel van, the Deliver 9, and the arrival to market of MAXUS' second EV model, the E Deliver 3, which was unveiled last year at the Commercial Vehicle Show, 2020 is going to be the brand's biggest year ever."

MAXUS has concentrated on fuel innovation and the development of light commercial electric cars for many years. SAIC's commitment to alternative powertrain technology has been proved by an investment of about three quarters of a billion Euro, and the market can anticipate many more ground-breaking breakthroughs from the SAIC stable in the future years, according to Mark Barrett.
