Vauxhall revealed their ADAM ROCKS mini-crossover at the Geneva Motor Show this month. After making a rapturous reception at last year’s event, the company captured the same spirit in this year’s, continuing the same excitement as the car goes from concept to production vehicle.
The ROCKS is a taller, wider and tougher addition to the ADAM family, bringing a new crossover body style supported by a raised chassis that can take on any urban obstacles. This magical combination is created by pairing the modified chassis- which includes new dampers, springs, and the higher and wider rear suspension geometry- with 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels to produce the ultimate driving experience.
The vehicle is wrapped in a protective, anthracite-colour cladding that gives the vehicle a muscular look. This was further emphasised by its frontal trapezoidal grille, chrome central brand bar, satin chrome ‘boomerang’ elements in front fog lamp indicator housing, as well as its integrated rear roof spoiler and LED daytime running lights.
This rugged exterior is combined with open air fun as the car comes armed with electric folding canvas roof that operates via a button located in the front rear of the headliner and folds back neatly onto the C-pillar in five seconds. The entire roof is acoustically tuned for noise isolation within the cabin and is made of three-layered fabrics that are both weatherproof and durable.
The vehicle also comes with two distinctive interior trims that make this model stand out. According to the company: “One trim is taken directly from the ADAM ROCKS concept car revealed last year: it has elegant-sporty Peanut-coloured fabric/Morrocana seats and door panels, leather steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake in the same colour, and a “Surf” décor trim. There is also a sophisticated Coffee Bean design – rich dark brown seats in a black cabin trimmed with bright blue stitching.”
The ROCKS comes with a powerful all-new “1.0-litre ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo three-cylinder engine. This high-tech pocket rocket raises the bar for three-cylinder engine refinement and packs up to 115PS, with impressive low-end torque of 166 Nm.” It comes with a choice of two power outputs, 90PS and 115PS, certainly enough to appease any driver.
The ADAM ROCKS is tentatively scheduled for public release this summer with production starting in Germany in August. For more information or to book a test drive in the ADAM, please contact us on 0333 222 0424 or alternatively visit us at www.pentagon-vauxhall.co.uk
