SEAT Leon ST snaps Up Five-Star Euro NCAP Rating

The popular SEAT Leon ST has been awarded the coveted five-star safety rating by Euro NCAP. The rating makes the Leon one of the safest cars on the road, setting a precedent for all future SEAT’s.

  • According to SEAT representatives, their upcoming Leon ST model has been given exceptional scores in all areas of the Euro NCAP test. The car went through a series of grueling tasks and received very high scores in adult occupant safety and child occupant safety, scoring 94% and 92% respectively.Car safety is of the utmost importance on the road. The NCAP rating holds considerable weight, measuring the true safety through a star system. Although few cars are awarded full five-star rating, SEAT’s Leon ST managed to stun judges with its performance, getting just that. It is now ready to become one of the safest cars on the road.

SEAT explained that the rating was due to the series of important safety features found in their vehicle. It notes that “front passenger airbag deactivation, to facilitate installation of a rear-facing child seat, helped achieve the child occupant score, while extensive use of high strength and ultra-high strength steels in key areas of the chassis ensure that the Leon ST remains as stable as possible during a collision.”

Beyond the five-star rating, SEAT also boasted that their Leon ST received two additional Euro NCAP advanced awards, for its lane-keeping assistance as well as multi-collision break system. This award was established in 2010 in order to reward “ground-breaking emerging safety innovations” that significantly improve the overall safety of the vehicle.

Dr. Matthias Rabe, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development at SEAT S.A, recently said: “SEAT is committed to the highest levels of active and passive safety in all its models. The thorough development work developed at our Technical Centre is now rewarded with the excellent classification achieved by both variants of the new Leon in the demanding Euro NCAP tests.

“We are also pleased with the two Euro NCAP Advanced rewards for the SEAT multi-collision brake system and the SEAT lane-keeping assistant in the new Leon. It is the new Leon family at the very top of the latest technology,” he also adds.

The car goes on sale in the UK in October 2013 while deliveries will begin January 2014. For a test drive and more information please get in touch with Pentagon SEAT on 0333 222 0424 or alternatively visit us at www.pentagon-seat.co.uk.
