New Seat Mii Details Released

This is the Mii, SEAT’s new city car and its latest venture into the ever-expanding A00 segment. Its practicality, drivability, efficiency and innovative technologies make it the ideal companion for urban living.

  • The Mii combines sporty Mediterranean design with quality craftsmanship and enormous scope for personalisation. It is outstanding value for money and, with low maintenance costs, is an easily attainable option for customers who want a small but perfectly formed city car. A three-door version of the Mii will go on sale in Spain by the end of the year. It’ll be followed by a five-door version and launch in the rest of Europe in spring 2012. The Mii launches with two new 1.0-litre petrol engines that produce 60 PS and 75 PS. Because the car weighs just 854kg, it’s extremely agile and efficient. In fact, the Ecomotive version will produce just 97g/km of CO2. The Mii also features innovative technologies such as City Safety Assist and the SEAT Portable System. Perfect For The city – And Longer Journeys At just 3.55 metres long and 1.64 metres wide, the Mii is the perfect size for modern-day urban use – but it still offers plenty of space for four people. There’s also room for 251 litres of luggage with the seats up, which increases to 951 litres of space when the rear seat is folded down. But the Mii is also spacious, comfortable and sporty enough to be a compelling companion over longer distance. Design: Mediterranean Modernity With Clear Character The Mii is clearly recognisable as a member of the SEAT family. Its front end features the familiar SEAT arrow design, while its profile is distinguished by powerful wheel arches and slender roof pillars. The rear end shows a new form of light design with triangular lamp units. The Mii’s perfect proportions are a key element: it has a long wheelbase (2.42 metres long) and exceptionally short front and rear overhangs. The steep rear end contributes to the Mii’s spaciousness. Modern clarity and compelling functionality also define the Mii’s interior. The perfect ergonomics of the instruments and control elements fit beautifully with the premium surfaces that can be personalised with coloured trims. Its seats are also new: they have integrated head restraints and combine sports-car flair with long-distance comfort. Safety: The Mii Monitors The Road And Brakes For Itself The Mii’s City Safety Assist programme warns the driver – or even stops the car completely – when it senses danger. A laser sensor recognises other vehicles in front, whether they are on the move or stationary. The system warns the driver when there is the imminent threat of an accident at speeds of less than 18 mph (30 km/h). If the driver does not react, the Mii brakes automatically. In many situations this is sufficient to avoid an accident altogether but, if this isn’t possible, it will, at the very least, mitigate its consequences. ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), another optional safety feature, is always fitted when City Safety Assist is specified. A lightweight design means the base weight of the Mii is only 854kg. Its bodyshell is formed largely from high-strength and, in places, form-hardened steels, creating an exceptional stiffness that delivers a high-quality feel and excellent passive safety. Large side airbags are fitted as standard. Drive: Sporty And Agile With Low Fuel Consumption Beneath the Mii’s bonnet is a completely new generation of engines. The three-cylinder, 1.0-litre petrol powerplant is light, compact and smooth-running. It can produce 60 PS or 75 PS, helping the Mii to achieve top speeds of 99 mph (160 km/h) and 106 mph (171 km/h) respectively. Fuel consumption on the combined cycle is just 4.5* and 4.7* litres per 100 kilometres respectively. The Mii has a generous 35-litre tank, offering considerable range between fill-ups. There are two Ecomotive versions of the Mii. Both have start/stop technology, a brake-energy recuperation system and other eco-friendly tweaks that help them to achieve an impressive fuel consumption of just 4.2* litres per 100 km, and produce 97g/km of CO2. A version powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) will be available in mainland Europe. It produces just 86 g/km of CO2, making the Mii one of the cleanest cars in the world. The Mii is available with a normal manual transmission or an automated manual gearbox that uses two electric motors to help manage smooth gear changes. Infotainment: Unique Technology To Boost Efficient Driving The Mii features the new SEAT Portable System, which combines state-of-the-art navigation functions, hands-free phone operation with voice control and an on-board computer – all in one small device that can be removed for use on the go and integrates perfectly with the car’s electronics. “The Mii offers enormous intelligence in a compact format,” said Dr Matthias Rabe, SEAT Vice President for Research and Development. “The SEAT Portable System shows how it is possible to offer fascinating technology and innovative functions with tangible added value at an attractive price.” Other features of the SEAT Portable System include: • An ‘Eco-trainer’ function, which displays gearshift and engine speed recommendations, average values and a fuel consumption profile to help the Mii owner drive economically • Full integration with the car’s electronics • It can be combined with the car’s radio and speaker system • It can be kept up to date via internet downloads • Tailor-made applications will offer additional functions in the future Equipment: Sporty Chic The Mii will be available in Spain with three trim levels (base model, Reference and Style), two style packs and a range of optional equipment and accessories. The base model has all the key elements for safety and urban driving fun, including ABS, an adjustable steering column, side airbags and Isofix points with top tether. The range-topping Style trim has features such as electrically powered windows and central locking fitted as standard. Two style packages – Chic and Sport – offer choices of special colours and interior trim elements, as well as alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel. The Chic version also features chrome styling, while the Sport version has tinted windows and a sporty suspension set-up for an even more dynamic feel. Notes • Full details of right-hand-drive versions of the Mii, including pricing, equipment, trim levels and on-sale dates, will be available in due course. • *Right-hand drive data to be confirmed

"The new Mii is the perfect partner for everyday urban life. It is young and fresh, thought through to the very last detail and built to the finest quality. The Mii brings clear SEAT identity to the sub-compact segment and is set to win a significant share" James Muir, President of SEAT S.A.
