First SEAT SUV unveiled with the all-new SEAT Ateca

Sales of SUVs and crossover models are soaring in markets right across Europe, and SEAT has decided it's time to make its mark on the segment with the introduction of the all-new SEAT Ateca SUV.

• Bearing the latest industry sales figures in mind, it's little surprise that SEAT is keen to develop its own SUV offering. Data for 2015 published at the start of February by automotive business intelligence firm JATO Dynamics found that SUVs outsold the traditional subcompact and compact car segments for the first time. The total market share for the SUV segment in Europe grew from 19.8 per cent in 2014, to 22.5 per cent. The UK led the way in terms of overall SUV sales, with new registrations up 26 per cent from 501,200 units in 2014 to 630,400 last year.

  Designed with sharp lines and taut curves, this new crossover from SEAT has evolved with the same design DNA from the Leon and is undoubtedly a statement of intention from SEAT with a glimpse of what’s to come from the brand in the future. The high roofline hints at the extra interior space and comfort inside and the interior definitely delivers on every aspect.

  The New SEAT Ateca is also equipped with the latest technology from SEAT with innovative additions including the SEAT Drive Profile with Driving Experience Button and Wireless Charger. With other state-of-the-art technologies like Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, this is a car that anticipates exactly what the driver needs and delivers it in a way that aims to make the day-to-day flow smoothly and make even the shortest of rides that little bit more exciting.

  Entertainment comes in the form of an 8-inch infotainment touch screen with Navigation and Full Link Technology and for even more driver comfort and convenience, the New SEAT Ateca has a Top View Camera and Parking Assist, Electric Boot with Virtual Pedal, and KESSY Keyless entry and go.

  Prices and full specification levels are still to be confirmed but expect the Ateca to start at around £18,000 and rise to just under £30,000. First deliveries of the new car should start in September.
