E-Tech is Renault’s exclusive plug-in hybrid tech that introduces a 9.8kWh battery, capable of reaching up to 30 miles (WLTP) of pure electric driving.

This clever system works by pairing two electric motors with a traditional engine. Renault PHEV cars start up in pure electric mode with no need for engine power.

Renault’s F1 team inspired the E-Tech system with two electric motors. There’s a primary and secondary motor that links to a central battery and then to the engine.

This all combines to create smooth driving with no acceleration or gear shift delay.

Renault’s E-Tech PHEV system optimises electrical use when charging, decelerating and braking. Regenerative braking kicks in when you start to slow down, turning that energy into electric power and transferring it back into the battery.

All the systems work in tandem to prevent your battery from getting too low, which means you spend less time charging and more time driving.

Charge your PHEV Renault car through a standard three-pin wall socket at home. Or you can get a wall box installed for quicker charging. This option is typically cheaper than using a charging point.

Or you can use many of the public charging points found across the country. The beauty of a plug-in hybrid is that you don’t necessarily need a charging point at home - you can charge up at work, at the supermarket or on the high street.
