Top 5 Ways to Prepare Your Car for Spring

Here at Pentagon Group, we have gathered a few top tips for preparing your car for Spring time.

  • With the winter thaw nearly upon us, our roads and weather are changing. While it may be pleasing to the eye, this new environment can wreak havoc with our driving, especially if your car hasn’t been properly inspected in over a year. In order to help you out, here at Pentagon Group, we have compiled a short list of quick and easy things to do to help you keep your car up and running for the spring.

    #1- Clean Car, Clean Mind

The most important (but underrated) thing you can do this season is some spring-cleaning. Driving through all the muck, salts, and grime over the last few months has left your car dangerously corrosive. Getting out a washcloth and spending just a little time cleaning the inside and outside of your car will ensure that it looks spotless when the nice weather finally does come out, allowing you to enjoy it to the fullest extent.

    #2- Check Those Liquids

There are a huge number of liquids that make your car run smoothly. Spending some time checking that your cooling system, wiper fluid, as well as oil are all at accurate levels can be the difference between a safe ride and a rocky one. Most car manuals will direct you on where each are located and how they can be checked and topped up, so be sure to get yours out or check online.

    #3- Windscreen Wiper Replacements

Another easy task you can do right from home is checking whether your wipers need replacing. Typically wipers need to be changed every six months to a year but strong winds, rain, and snow could make that timeframe much shorter. Make sure that blades are still sharp and are performing to high standard, if this is not the case, please get in touch with us by visiting http://www.pentagon-group.co.uk/parts-accessories.

    #4- Tyre Pressure

Checking tyre pressure can be tricky, but it is one of the most important tasks you can perform before spring. Always ensure the tyres are cold and either take your vehicle to a petrol station or buy a small pressure gauge to do it at home yourself. It is also important to ensure that your tyre is in the ‘goldilocks zone’ as high pressure can wear out your tyres quickly whilst lower pressure can make your drive a sluggish nightmare. Please consult your driving manual to make sure you are following the correct procedure.

    #5- Battery Check

Lastly, make sure that your battery and spark plugs are all working correctly before you get out on the roads this spring. Frequent driving in the winter is known to rust battery connections as well as use up spark plugs very quickly. A quick dusting and replacement can really save you a massive headache in the long run, so make sure that everything is in order.
