The X-Trail, based on the new 2014 Qashqai, will replace the Qashqai+2 which is no longer available in the Nissan range as a 7 seater.
The new X-trail will be available in three trim levels; Visia, Acenta and Tekna. The vehicles will all include air-conditioning, alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, five-inch colour display, bluetooth with microphone, cruise control, hill start assist, follow me home lights and a luggage board system.
The car can also monitor the road surface for bumps and a computer system will then change the suspension to make the ride more comfortable along with engine braking when slowing down to a halt to make stopping safer. Nissan will give the vehicle their advanced electronic “All Mode 4x4i System” which gives drivers the ability to switch between two wheel drive, auto or permanent four wheel drive via a button in the centre console.
Nissan will launch the X-trail with a 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine and it is claimed the vehicle will also have emissons as low as 129g/km of CO2 making it the most efficient in its class with approximately 60mpg. The engine will produce 128bhp. Prices have not yet been confirmed but the X-Trail is rumoured to start at around £27,000.
