When the Nissan Qashqai launched in 2007, it quickly become a family favourite thanks to its comfort, interior space and efficiency. The All-New Qashqai now features an e-POWER powertrain, a future technology that drives the wheels full-time by an electric motor, providing instant acceleration along with a quiet ride. With its bold stance, sharp LED lighting and optional massive 20-inch alloy wheels. Once again Qashqai has pushed forward a new vision into the market, with its roomy interior a sleek and compact body.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility gives you more confidence and makes you feel more connected on every ride. Drive with greater awareness, backed up by assistance when you need it.
Nissan has taken their experience with the flagship EV, the Nissan LEAF, and created the innovative technology, which is e-POWER. This time around, Nissan has added a petrol engine to charge the high-output battery. Unlike traditional hybrid cars that use the petrol engine to drive the wheels, with e-POWER powertrain, the petrol engine is used to generate electricity stored in the battery & used by the electric motor, giving you enhanced range and quiet performance. e-POWER achieves the same experience as an EV, instant acceleration, and torque without the need to be charged, eliminating charging time on a long journey. Giving you a smoother, more enjoyable, electric ride.
The e-POWER system comprises a 1.5-litre petrol engine, high-performance lithium-ion battery, an electric motor that’s powered by the petrol engine and power generator, an inverter, a high-performance lithium-ion battery, and an electric motor. The internal combustion engine serves as a generator that charges the battery, this drives the electric motor to provide power to the wheels via the inverter. A key feature of e-Power is that the petrol engine is not connected to the wheels, its sole purpose is to charge the battery. The battery powers the electric motors that then move the wheels. e-Power gives you a fully electric motor, which is driven by the energy supplied by a traditional engine. Whereas wheels on conventional hybrid powertrains can be driven by an electric motor, a petrol engine, or a combination of the two.
HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) |
The Hybrid Electric Vehicle uses an electric motor to supplement a conventional engine. The battery is charged through the engine and energy recapturing technologies |
BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) | Those are fully-electric vehicles that have no combustion engine and are powered exclusively by their batteries and electric motors. |
.
A fully electric vehicle's source of power is the electric engine, which is driven by the battery that needs to be charged externally. With e-Power Nissan have developed a system which allows a smaller petrol engine to be used as a so of power. Nissan has take energy management a step further as e-Power uses a smaller battery than the Nissan LEAF, meaning you get the same experience you would driving an electric vehicle. Nissan has once again revolutionised the art in which vehicles are made, e-Power is one of the biggest achievements for compact cars. Released early 2022 the ALL-NEW NISSAN QASHQAI is available to test drive with us at Pentagon Nissan Barnsley.
