SEAT to Go Big with New SEAT Tarraco

SEAT have revealed their first large SUV ready for release in early 2019; meet the all-new SEAT Tarraco.

  • The SEAT Tarraco, named through popular vote after the Mediterranean city Taragona, is the third SUV released from the Spanish brand; however, unlike the Arona and Ateca, the Tarraco is not a crossover but SEAT’s debut into the full-size SUV market. The new flagship model will be looking to mix state-of-the-art technology, dynamic handling and practicality with progressive design.

SEAT say that the Tarraco offers the first glimpse at the design philosophy that will influence their future models. The front grille has been given more prominence than other models in the range and the companies signature triangular LED headlights have been set deeper into the body, creating a more striking and focused front end.

The Tarraco offers an incredibly spacious interior and 7 seats as standard, being larger than both the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tiguan; however, the rear loading area has been kept low down to ensure practicality is not compromised. Inside, the Tarraco features a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit to streamline the delivery of information to the driver. There is also an 8-inch touchscreen which can access the cars range of connectivity options – including popular options Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Unlike the current models the Tarraco will have a floating screen design for the infotainment system rather than integrating it into the facia.

Matthias Rabe, the Executive Vice-President for SEAT Research and Design, said of the new car - “The SEAT Tarraco is a masterpiece of functionality and flexibility, as it offers the space and flexibility customers expect from a large SUV. It is the sportiest vehicle in the segment from a design point of view and also thanks to the dynamic chassis control, which allows you to tune it to meet your driving needs.”

  • At launch the Tarraco will be available with a choice of two petrol engines (a 1.5-litre manual and a 2.0-litre automatic with four-wheel drive) and two diesel options (both are 2.0-litre with one outputting 150PS and the other 190PS). There is also a PHEV option expected in 2020. Full specifications and pricing have not been announced yet, but to register for more information as it is made available visit your local Pentagon SEAT dealership or call on 0330 390 6849.
