The Business Motoring Awards are given in a number of categories from the perspective of a company car driver or company looking for a business vehicle.
The Peugeot 5008 was the winner in the Medium SUV category; specifically the 1.5 BlueHDI Allure variation. The judges were impressed with the 5008 and its as-standard seven seats; a feature that is commonly an optional extras in similar cars. The price point of the 5008 was also addressed by the judges, who appreciated that the Peugeot was priced to avoid the £450 road tax charge for cars priced over £40,000.
The Best Compact Car award went to the new Ceed from Kia. The updated model was said to have upped its level of refinement and standard specification, giving it an edge over competitors like the Volkswagen Golf. The large boot and amount of space for rear passengers impressed, as did the future-proof nature of the Ceed as the 1.6CRDi engine goes further than current Euro 6 regulations. Kia also picked up the award for Best Hybrid with the Kia Niro. With the introduction of a fully electric version of the Niro – the e-Niro – now available also, this could be the prelude to a number of further wins for the Niro family.
Another winner from Groupe PSA was the Citroen C3 Aircross with the Best Small SUV award. The judges mentioned how competitive this category was, with a wide variety of cars to select from. Ultimately, the Citroen C3 Aircross was able to come out as the victor thanks to its striking good looks and array of personalisation options allowing drivers to really make it their own.
