Despite the current situation in the UK, the Motability Scheme is still fully operational.
The scheme’s customer service team are working from home, so there will be no disruptions to the application process, other than longer lead times on vehicles.
And here at Pentagon, we’re still operating in line with the latest restrictions. This means Motability customers still get the same great service as we’ve provided for years.
What’s changed? Is the Motability Scheme open during lockdown?
In line with the national lockdown announced on the 5th January 2021, all dealerships in the UK have to close to the public.
But even with our dealerships closed, we’re conducting everything over the phone or online.
This means you can still get in touch if you have any queries about Motability, whether you’re registering to the scheme for the first time or have a question to ask about a current lease.
Like we mentioned before, there should be no massive disruption to Motability in lockdown, other than having to wait longer than you usually would for your car.
This depends on the availability of any model - if it needs to be ordered from a manufacturer, the wait time will be longer. If not, then you should only experience a shorter delay.
But either way, you’ll get your Motability car with Pentagon. We’re here to make the process as quick, convenient and stress-free as possible.
So far, no part of the scheme has been affected. Motability is still taking on new customers and supporting existing users alike.
All maintenance and repairs departments can remain open though, meaning that any Motability repairs, services or MOTs can still be carried out at our Pentagon service centres.
Motability COVID lease extension
To guarantee you worry-free motoring that helps you retain the freedom of mobility, the Motability scheme offers an automatic COVID lease extension.
This means that if you don’t place a new order or don’t return your car when your lease is up, your lease is extended by six months automatically.
And this also applies to anyone who’s already had a COVID lease extension previously!
You get an extension of your insurance that covers this six-month period, and you can even return the car or place a new order at any point during the Motability COVID lease extension.
Collecting your Motability car in Lockdown
Even with the Pentagon dealerships closed, you’re still able to pick up your Motability car from one of our locations.
We’ve made all of our sites COVID-secure and fully compliant with all government regulations. Get in touch with us to find out how you can pick yours up from your local Pentagon dealership.
Please keep in mind that most of the facilities at our dealerships will be closed for use.
If you’d rather wait until the restrictions are lifted, we’ll happily reschedule the vehicle handover to a time where you feel more comfortable coming in.
Applying for Motability during COVID
We can still take on new Motability applicants as we’re still offering remote vehicle handovers during the current lockdown.
Because of the restrictions, we’re able to handle the application on your behalf. You don’t even need to come to see us - we speak to you over the phone or online, then complete the application for you.
Getting your next Motability car in lockdown
Existing customers are still able to sort out their next vehicle. If you’re in the final three months of your agreement or have had a Motability COVID lease extension, get in touch with us and let us know which car you’re after.
Advanced Good Condition Payment
Any Motability customers in need of financial support due to COVID-19 can apply for an advance on the Good Condition Bonus.
Doing so gives you £600 upfront. Many customers tend to use this to go towards another car at the end of their lease.
You can apply for this up until 31 July 2021, and applies to customers experiencing “temporary and exceptional financial need.”
