FIAT Introduces 2014 500 Range

FIAT has unveiled their upcoming 500 range at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. It features a large number of additions including a TwinAir 105bhp engine, initiative digital instruments, as well as a new range-topping Fiat 500 Cult model.

  • At the Geneva Motor Show 2014, vehicle manufacturers from around the world uncover their latest creation. FIAT has unveiled their upcoming 500 range, and what they revealed was truly fascinating.

The first major improvement for the range is the new 105bhp 0.9 TwinAir engine. The engine is the newest member to the award-winning TwinAir family that employs a high-efficiency turbocharger, exhaustive manifold integrated into the cylinder head, and a Start&Stop fuel-saving system along with new MultiAirII intake valve control system.

The engine is combined with an outstanding six-speed manual gearbox as standard, delivering 105bhp at 5,500rpm and 107lb ft of torque at 2,000rpm in Sport mode which translates into a 0-62mph time in just 10 seconds and a top speed of 117mph.

Another improvement for the 500 range is found in the interior, where designers have added an assortment of features to the already popular layout. Drivers will be greeted with a central display that can be configured to show trip readout, distance travelled, as well as instant fuel consumption and range. The new models will feature more prominent warning messages to warn passengers of open doors and low fuel, as well as a more visible Gear Shift indicator.

The new cars come with a seven-inch TFT screen that displays all your driving needs, featuring a media player and telephone information. The screen reconfigures when the Sports button is pressed on 105bhp 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine models. The ‘eco’ display in these cars measures how efficient the driver is performing, transforming features such as the turbo-boost gauge to emphasise the dual-personality of the engine.

Some of these additions have made their way into the Fiat 500 Cult. Building on the achievements of the “Lounge version (which is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, a fixed glass sunroof, Blue&Me™ connectivity, a leather steering wheel with remote controls and air conditioning) the new FIAT 500 Cult offers a host of additional equipment which is appropriate for its position as the new top-of-the-range FIAT 500 model.”

The vehicle benefits from 16-inch alloy wheels with a new design, featuring gloss black roof panels, chrome exterior detailing, and gloss black surround for tail light clusters. It has also got a new interior equipped with leather seats as standard, coming in black, tobacco or red leather.
