Electric City Car Options Set to Increase in 2020
The range of small electric hatchbacks available from Pentagon Motor Group is set to expand noticeably in 2020 with the introduction of the Vauxhall Corsa-e, Peugeot e-208 and the SEAT Mii Electric.
Many vehicle manufacturers are currently looking to electrify their line up and three of Pentagons manufacturers have recently announced plans to release a fully electric version of their popular city cars.
For a lot of city car and super-mini drivers, moving to an electric vehicle makes a lot of sense. The daily mileage of a city car is, on average, less than 30 miles; a range easily covered by most electric vehicles (EVs). Charging an EV can cost as little as £4 for around 150 miles of running, so the savings in running costs is very noticeable compared to traditional petrol or diesel car. Many cities offer convenient perks to EV drivers as well; for example, drivers in Sheffield can benefit from free parking in certain areas of the city centre.
From 2020 Vauxhall, Peugeot and SEAT are set to introduce the all-new Corsa-e, e-208 and Mii Electric respectively, adding to the options available to any driver considering going electric. The trio of new EVs is set to join the already popular Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe hatchbacks available from Pentagon dealerships across the country. The Peugeot e-208 will feature a 50kWh battery and 100kW motor which is expected to be capable of delivering over 200 miles on a single charge. The e-Corsa will also be released with a 50kWh battery and was able to achieve a 205-mile range under the new WLTP testing standard. The Mii Electric brings a smaller 36.8kWh battery which allows a full charge to be reached quicker whilst still delivering over 160 miles to a charge based on WLTP tests. This means drivers could feasibly achieve a full week of driving on just one or two charges from any of the upcoming EV city cars.
