How does Ford SYNC keep you so connected? AppLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect to your device to offer control of your smartphone through the car. You can control your phone via voice control, the steering wheel buttons and the touchscreen display.

AppLink
Control apps through a connected device with AppLink. Use the touchscreen, steering wheel controls or voice command to navigate through apps, including Waze, Tidal, Radioplayer and Spotify. Download the Ford App Catalogue on your phone to check which apps you can use on the go.

Apple CarPlay
For those with compatible Apple devices, Apple CarPlay pairs with your iPhone. You get full access to your device through the SYNC system, being able to control it with the steering wheel controls, touchscreen or Siri. You can make calls, play music, listen to messages and reply to texts. Use Apple Maps, or another navigation app, to get your ETA, find out traffic conditions and get step-by-step instructions.

Control your Android phone, running on 5.0 Lollipop or higher, through SYNC with Android Auto. Make and take calls, reply to messages, stream music and use Google Maps for directions. Check Google Play for a full list of compatible apps.

How do I update Ford SYNC?
Ford SYNC is constantly updated with improvements, additions and changes. To make sure you have the latest software, you need to:
- Park your car and activate the handbrake or change to neutral gear
- Go to “Settings”, found on the home screen
- Go to “General Settings” then click on “Automatic System Updates”
- Slide this setting to on
- Select “yes” when asked if you want automatic system updates
You need to be connected to WiFi to download any Ford SYNC updates.
How do I play music through Bluetooth Ford SYNC?
To stream music from your phone to your car via Bluetooth:
- Activate Bluetooth on your device
- Go to the “Phone” tab on the SYNC menu
- Go to “Settings” then select “add”
- Enter the pin shown on the SYNC display to the prompt on your device
- Press play on your music and enjoy!
How do I use Spotify with Ford SYNC?
To use Spotify through your car’s SYNC display:
- Make sure you’ve downloaded Spotify on your phone
- Activate Bluetooth on your device
- Make sure your device is paired and connected with SYNC
- For Apple phones, connect via USB. Android phones don’t need to connect via USB.
- Go to the “Apps” menu
- Select Spotify, then select “yes” when asked if you want to use AppLink and accept the data usage terms
How do I connect my iPhone to Ford SYNC
To pair your iPhone with your car:
- Activate Bluetooth on your device
- Go to the “Phone” tab on the SYNC menu.
- Go to “Settings” then select “add”
- Enter the pin shown on the SYNC display to the prompt on your device
- Your iPhone is now paired with Ford SYNC.
