Introducing The All-Electric Ford e-Transit: Powering The Future Of Business With Next-level Software, Services And Capability

Introducing the new Ford E-Transit van. The vehicle will offer customers enhanced productivity enabled by its fully electronic powertrain, software solutions, services, and Pro Power Onboard options.

  • The All-Electric Ford e-Transit is Powering The Future Of Business

The world’s best-selling cargo van leads the charge and goes all-electric. Featuring state-of-the-art connected vehicle technology and services with the signature Transit capability, conversions, and dealer support.

Standard FordPass Connect modem provides connectivity to help commercial vehicle customers optimise fleet efficiency, including easily finding and paying for charging on-the-go. Over-the-air updates will upgrade navigation and other features.

E-Transit becomes a mobile power source by virtue of the Pro Power Onboard. With up to 2.3kW to help customers use tools and recharge equipment at job sites - first of its kind in the LCV industry in Europe. The vehicle also targets an approximate WLTP driving range of up to 217 miles which is roughly three times the distance the average European fleet driver covers daily.

E-Transit offers superb, one-year, unlimited mileage service intervals and with lower maintenance expenses, delivers an estimated 40 percent saving in service cost of ownership versus diesel models.

European customers are presented with a generous choice of body, length, roof height, and Gross Vehicle Mass options, giving 25 possible variants. Payload is targeted up to 1,616kg for the van and up to 1,967kg for the chassis cab models. E-Transit is due to arrive spring 2022 and is ready for action.

Unlike most newcomers in the van industry who are still at the phase of building prototypes, Ford’s commercial vehicle ecosystem is expanding to incorporate electric vehicle monitoring software and connected solutions for fleets to seamlessly integrate into day-to-day operations.

  • Ford is driving to go greener

Despite the growing demand for vehicles, cities around the world are pledging to create emission-free zones and reduce greenhouse gas levels.

The arrival of e-Transit due in early 2022 is part of Ford's over $11.5 billion global investment in electrification through 2022. The all-electric Mustang Mach-E is expected in European dealerships from early next year, followed by the fully electric F -150 in North American dealers in mid-2021.

  • Tailored Charging Solutions

Due to the usable battery capacity of 67kWh, E-Transit provides an approximate driving range of up to 217 miles on the combined WLTP cycle,1 accommodating enough range to meet daily requirements alongside an abundance of additional capacity to account for variations in vehicle load and weather conditions.

This shapes the E-Transit as ideal for urban environments, fixed drive routes, and deliveries within geofenced zero-emission driving zones, without requiring fleet owners to pay for excess battery capacity they don’t need.

The climate control system is programmed to adjust the cabin to the preferred temperature while the vehicle is still charging and ensuring that the maximum driving range is available.

Apart from helping companies operate more sustainably, the E-Transit presents clear business advantages. As a result of reduced maintenance expenses, the e-Transporter can reduce service cost of ownership by approximately 40 percent compared with internal combustion engine-equipped models

  • Connectivity On The Go

The e-Transit enables customers to transform the vehicle into a mobile source with the optional Pro Power Onboard. Providing up to 2.3kW for equipment on the job site and on the go, this is a first for the LCV industry in Europe.

The standard FordPass Connect modem 5 delivers seamless connectivity to help commercial vehicle customers manage and optimise fleet efficiency, with a range of dedicated electric vehicle services available through the Ford Telematics fleet solution.

Fleet operators can also benefit from advanced driver assistance technologies including Traffic Sign Recognition 7 and Intelligent Speed Assist, 7 which together identify speed restrictions and allow fleet managers to set vehicle speed limits.

  • Uncompromised Capability

The e-Transit is crafted with uncompromised cargo volume capacity. The battery is located underneath the body, providing up to 15.1 cubic meters of cargo space, 8 the same as a rear-wheel-drive diesel Transit.

The heavy-duty semi-trailing arm suspension system enables better steering precision and more confident handling and better traction in both laden and unladen conditions. All thanks to the redesigned driveline and rear suspension system to optimise cargo space.

Following the prosperous city partnerships featuring the Transit Custom Plug-In Hybrid, Ford is expected to undertake extensive customer fleet trials with E-Transit in key European markets, starting in 2021.
