Imperial Group UK Gains Cyber Essential Certification

The Cyber Essential Certification is designed to reduce the threat of hacking, phishing and password guessing. It is part of Imperial Group UK’s ongoing strategy to ensure all data is as secure as possible which gives all stakeholders complete peace of mind that their data is safe.

  • What Does The Certification Involve?

This accreditation is a government-backed scheme and created in partnership with the National Cyber Security Centre (a subsidiary of GCHQ). The scheme helps organisations (like Imperial Group UK) to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data stored on devices which connect to the Internet. These include desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones and all server and network equipment. Its overall aim is to reduce the chance of a data breach and other forms of cyber-attacks.

The scheme addresses the most common threats to cyber security. These attacks tend to use widely available tools that require very little technical expertise. 3 of the most common threats are:

    • Hacking – it exploits vulnerabilities in any internet-enabled device
    • Phishing – by tricking users to install or execute a malicious application which can enable hackers to steal data. Email attachments are one of the more common ways these apps infiltrate internal systems.
    • Password guessing – manual or automated attempts to log on from the Internet by guessing passwords
  • Why Has Imperial Group UK Done It?

Threats to online security are constantly changing and so Imperial want to actively take measures to keep all data safe. This certification is part of Imperial’s ongoing commitment to protect the data of all their customers, employees, partners and other stakeholders. By taking these additional measures Imperial Group UK now have an industry-recognised level of online protection.

Pentagon forms part of the Imperial Group UK so all new and updated security measures will be applied to all their devices and systems. Therefore, moving forward all current and future shareholders should feel reassured and have complete peace of mind that any data that they share with Pentagon is protected to an industry-recognised level.
