The Frankfurt Motor Show is now in full swing and car manufacturers from around the world are beginning to release some truly fantastic vehicles. Amongst these unique cars is the Citroën Cactus Concept, a model that embodies the vision of the future.
The most noticeable feature of the concept is its unique styling. It is meant to be aesthetically pleasing and extremely practical and the “designers wanted to find the right volumes and extend efficiency to the smallest detail.” They made the surfaces pure and smooth, creating flowing contours that extend to the ‘floating’ roof and rear quarter panels. Perhaps the most noticeable features are the ‘airbumps’ which combined style with functionality, strengthening the overall appearance of the car.
Citroën has completely redefined the interior of the vehicle, offering a user-friendly space with the greatest comfort. The car comes with a slender, floating dashboard armed with the latest tech gadgets. The instrument cluster has been replaced with a 7-inch screen. Similarly, the car has swapped the “control buttons for an 8-inch touchscreen connected to all vehicle functions (air-conditioning, audio, satnav, connected services and driver aids). The most interesting choice has been the replacement of “the traditional gearstick with push-button controls on the lower part of the dashboard and steering-wheel paddles.”
Beyond the cars truly fascinating design, it also comes with economic and environmental considerations. The Concept comes with a new “Hybrid Air drivetrain – a full-hybrid, compressed air and hydraulics system – which is combined with a PureTech engine to deliver exceptional fuel economy in excess of 94mpg (under 3l/100km).”
This synthesis of practicality with pleasure makes this car definitely one to watch out for during the Frankfurt Motor Show.
