All-New Alfa Romeo Giulia Set To Create A Stir

Known for its proud motorsport heritage and ability to create stunningly beautiful sports cars, Alfa Romeo has pulled out all the stops when it comes to the all-new Alfa Romeo Giulia. Combining the best of Italian flair with advanced technology and race-inspired performance, it looks set to shake up the compact executive saloon segment like never before when it arrives at Pentagon Alfa Romeo in Doncaster next year.

  • The exterior of the new model is unapologetically bold, with large LED units sweeping across the front of the car to almost meet the wheel arches. In between the headlights sits Alfa Romeo's immediately identifiable Treofoil V-shaped grille. There are short overhangs at the front and rear of the car, emphasising its dynamic, sporty silhouette. Strong shoulders also help to give the saloon even more on-road presence.

In a bid to reduce weight and keep the model as agile and as responsive on the road as possible, Alfa has made extensive use of aluminium body parts and mechanical components, which includes the engine and the car's innovative suspension. In addition, weight-saving features include the use of carbon fibre across the model's driveshaft, bonnet, roof and the frames of the front seats. The result is an impressively lightweight saloon that benefits hugely from 50:50 weight distribution, ensuring the Giulia has sharp responses when cornering.

Innovative technology also plays its part with regard to the design of the model's exterior. The contours of the Giulia have been shaped with aerodynamic performance firmly in mind, while the car also features a first for the segment – an active aero front splitter. The device comes fitted as standard to the top-spec Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and this will be the only vehicle of its class in the world to benefit from the technology. The carbon fibre spoiler is integrated into the front lower fascia of the car and deploys automatically at high speeds to control airflow, increase performance and improve handling and stability.

Ceramic brakes with eye-catching red callipers also feature, adding to the model's sporty look and helping to produce maximum stopping power when it's required. The design ensures exceptional braking performance no matter the conditions, and also helps to reduce the overall weight of the Giulia.

The cabin of the car is just as sporty and as stylish as the exterior, thanks to the use of premium materials and impeccable craftsmanship. Details include a push-button engine start, plus carbon fibre trim and chrome detailing. The model's main gauges can be found grouped close to the race-inspired steering wheel, which allows for total control and is exceptionally comfortable to grip.

The Giulia's seductive styling hints at the power underneath the bonnet, but you'll only discover just how special the model is when you slip behind the wheel and your right foot touches the pedal. The top-of-the-range Quadrifoglio will be powered by a new bi-turbo V6, generating a stunning 510bhp. From a standing start, the engine will carry the Giulia to 60mph in less than 3.9 seconds. With such awesome raw power on offer, it's little surprise to discover that this is the most powerful production car that Alfa has ever built.

Efficiency hasn't been forgotten either and the powertrain comes equipped with an electronically controlled cylinder deactivation system that ensures best-in-class thermodynamic efficiency, along with class-leading power and incredible torque for blisteringly fast acceleration. Numerous features are used to help control all this power and ensure smooth acceleration. Quadrifoglio models feature torque vectoring technology, which has been designed to allow the rear differential to separately control torque delivery to each wheel. The result is rapid responses to maximise stability in all situations.

With such incredible power on offer for the top-of-the-range Quadrifoglio, it's reassuring to know that numerous active and passive safety features are built into the core of the model. For starters, the Alfa's chassis might be lightweight, but it is also incredibly strong. Carbon fibre has been used extensively throughout the model and as well as being seven times lighter than steel, it is also three times stronger. Alfa Romeo's DNA driving mode selector technology will also be included with Giulia models, making it simple to adjust the settings of the car to suit your mood and driving style.
